Mirabel Ting Caps a Historic Rookie Season: No. 1 on the Epson Tour, Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year
Some rookie seasons announce a player. Mirabel Ting’s announced a career trajectory.
The 21-year-old from Miri, Malaysia, closed her first full professional season Sunday with a solo second-place finish at the Epson Tour Championship at Indian Wells, one shot back, and sealed the No. 1 position in the season-long Race for the Card. With it comes the Epson Tour’s two highest individual honors: Player of the Year and the Gaëlle Truet Rookie of the Year. For the second straight year, a rookie has swept both.

Two Wins in 22 Days
Ting arrived on the Epson Tour with as decorated an amateur résumé as anyone in women’s golf: seven college wins at Florida State, the 2025 ANNIKA Award, PING WGCA Player of the Year and ACC Golfer of the Year. Her Florida State coach, Amy Bond, once called her “by far the best ball-striker I’ve ever seen.”

Still, the Epson Tour humbles plenty of college stars. Ting didn’t let it.
She spent the first half of the season stacking quality finishes, with a pair of thirds at the FireKeepers Casino Hotel Championship and the Great Lakes Championship, then a runner-up at the Hartford HealthCare Women’s Championship in July. The breakthrough came August 8 at the inaugural Smoky Mountain Championship in Tennessee. Two shots back of Rachel Kuehn entering Sunday, Ting closed with a 5-under 67, then birdied the first playoff hole to win her first professional title.
Twenty-two days later, she did it again. At the Dream First Bank Charity Classic in Garden City, Kansas, Ting led wire to wire through 30 mile per hour wind gusts, closing with a 66 to win by three at 14-under. The win landed on August 31 in Malaysia — Merdeka Day, the country’s Independence Day — and moved her to No. 1 in the Race for the Card. She never gave it back.

Built on Consistency
The wins made the headlines. The consistency made the season.
Ting entered the finale as the tour’s only two-time winner, with 11 top-10 finishes and no finish outside the top 20 in her previous eight starts. Her LPGA Tour card was locked up weeks before Indian Wells. Along the way, she Monday-qualified into the LPGA Tour’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship and tied for 15th against a full-strength field — a preview of what’s coming in 2027.

At Indian Wells, with the No. 1 spot on the line, she played in the final group Sunday and finished alone in second. That’s how you close out a season.
Next Stop: Home
Ting won’t have to wait until 2027 for her next LPGA Tour start. She’ll tee it up next at the 2026 Maybank Championship on a sponsor exemption, at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club — her home course.
She’s been here before. In 2024, as a 19-year-old amateur making her LPGA Tour debut, Ting was the only amateur in the field and finished tied for 12th at 12-under, matching defending champion Celine Boutier and finishing as the top Malaysian. It was the best finish ever by a Malaysian at the country’s home LPGA event. Two years later, she returns as the Epson Tour Player of the Year, in front of a home crowd that has followed every step.
Then: The LPGA Tour
Ting will join the LPGA Tour in 2027 with the best status the Epson Tour can offer. Her goal hasn’t changed since she left Sarawak as a teenager to chase the game in the United States: to become the first Malaysian to win on the LPGA Tour.
After this year, nobody’s betting against her.
